Hopi Ear Candles (Thermo-Auricular Therapy)

This is a Native American therapy –  from the Hopi people. Also known as Thermo-Auricular Therapy –  it helps to balance the inner ear, it is soothing and relaxing. A hollow waxed cotton tube (a “candle”), is gently inserted into the ear, and the gentle chimney effect of this burning helps to relieve ear, nose and throat conditions. It is particularly good for frequent fliers, and those suffering from persistent sinus problems. It is apparently now being used by many practice nurses as an alternative to syringing.

It is very relaxing, and can include a soothing face, head, neck and shoulder massage, to fully complement the therapeutic effects.

It cannot be done whilst any ear infections are present, or indeed grommets are inserted into the ear. And it is unsuitable if you have a perforated ear drum.

It may help improve hearing slightly, but it will not heal the deaf, unfortunately. It may also help alleviate tinnitus slightly but it will not cure it. No big promises for magic transformations – just gentle calming and soothing.

It can also be added into a Japanese Facial Treatment, a Holistic Massage, an Aromatherapy treatment or added to a Reflexology treatment. And Reiki can be added to it.

If you have children who need to have this done often I can show you how to do it, and supply you with candles – or give you a discount card for an online health supplier who can send them directly to you.
